Fawn Sebastian talking about the Art of Color Correction

blog 09

Skin color correction uses the principles of complementary color theory to neutralize unwanted undertones like redness, dark circles, or dullness. By applying the opposite shade on the color wheel, you create an even canvas before applying foundation or concealer

The Color Wheel Guide
  • Green: Neutralizes redness from acne, rosacea, or sunburn.
  • Peach/Orange: Cancels out bluish or grayish under-eye circles and dark spots. Use peach for lighter skin tones and deeper orange for darker skin.
  • Yellow: Neutralizes purple or violet tones, such as bruises or broken capillaries.
  • Purple/Lavender: Brightens dull, yellow, or sallow skin

Choose a shade in the orange family to correspond with your skin tone– more peach for lighter skin up to a darker orange for deeper skin tones. These colors can also be used to correct sunspots and age spots. Anything with a bluish tone can be corrected with a peach color corrector to orange color corrector.
